Promotional Signs go up in the town over what was a very windy weekend, where not alone did the group of boxers compete in a Saturday morning Technical session but they also now to begin to understand that their foot work might be one of the most important factors to do with their fight. As Coach Andy Murray keeps portraying "Get your Feet Right and your Hands and Body will follow"
Week 2 is now over and nearly all participants have completed 5 boxing sessions. Head Sparing was introduced tonight, and although not for the faint hearted some of the group were basically afraid to land a punch on someone else's head guard. As the sessions go on, each person will get used to giving and also taking some punches to both the head and the body.
Interest in general is starting to gather in this sequel of Fight Night's where we also ran a very successful campaign Easter last. That was in aid of Cystic Fibrosis and now in aid of the Breffni Blues Special Olympics Club in Cavan Town, members of the club have being keeping an eye on the level of commitment our participants are giving to the cause. At the end of the day come fight night, I am aware that people who enter the ring want to hold themselves in good stead. They want to be in reasonable shape to last the 3 x 1.5min rounds and also want to show the crowd what they have learned over the 7 weeks.
5 Weeks to go and already I can see the difference in the group. Bobbing and weaving is now coming into play as well as some nice hook shots to the body. Come Week 7 and these novice boxers will be ready to go.
Over the course of my next few blogs I will begin to name all the participants who are putting in such an effort in the Training Dome.
Keep an eye out for all the promotional signage, and remember to jump onto Cavan's Freaky Friday Fight Night Facebook Page to like it.
Remember come October 21st, The Crowd will Go Wild..
Chat soon.
